Why do width and height swap?
A 90- or 270-degree rotation turns the pixel rectangle, so the output width becomes the original height and vice versa.
Is EXIF orientation retained?
The browser decodes the displayed orientation and the exported pixels use that rendered result. Other metadata is not copied into the new file.
