PDF Compressor

Create a smaller image-based PDF locally and see the exact tradeoff before downloading.

Method

Local PDF processing method

Selected files are read and rewritten in browser memory. Merge and split modes copy PDF pages, while image-to-PDF embeds the selected raster images on newly sized pages.

Compression intentionally rasterizes each page, which can reduce scan-heavy files but removes searchable text, forms, links, annotations, and vector structure. Keep the original file until the result has been checked.

Questions

PDF Compressor FAQ

Why can compression remove selectable text?

This method renders each page as an image before rebuilding the PDF. It is effective for scans and graphics but does not preserve searchable text, forms, links, or vector layers.

Which settings should I use?

Start with medium resolution and 70 percent quality. Lower values create smaller files but make small text and fine lines less clear.
