Method

Time and calendar calculation method

Stopwatch elapsed time uses a monotonic high-resolution browser clock. Calendar results use Gregorian and ISO rules, while lunar and solar results apply documented mean-cycle and coordinate formulas.

Astronomical output is an estimate. Coordinates, elevation, refraction, local terrain, the entered UTC offset, and the simplified lunar model can change observed or high-precision event times.

Questions

Moon Phase Calculator FAQ

How accurate is the moon phase estimate?

It uses a standard mean synodic cycle anchored to a known new moon. It is suitable for general planning, not high-precision astronomical observation.

Why is moon phase similar worldwide?

The geometric phase is nearly the same at a given instant worldwide, though local date, rise time, orientation, weather, and visibility differ.
