Method

Grading calculation method

Test percentages divide correct answers or earned points by the available total. Custom thresholds are applied from the highest letter boundary downward, and required whole points are rounded up so the boundary is actually met.

Schools and instructors can use different rounding, weighting, plus-minus, incomplete, extra-credit, and pass-fail rules. Match the entered cutoffs to the policy that controls the course.

Questions

Grading Scale Calculator FAQ

Can grading cutoffs overlap?

No. Thresholds must descend from A through D so every percentage maps to one unambiguous letter grade.

How are required points rounded?

The calculator rounds each percentage boundary up to the next whole attainable point so the threshold is actually met.
